Located in southern Brooklyn, NY, Floyd Bennett Field was New York City's first municipal airport. It never received the planned airline service but the long runways, isolated location, lack of surrounding obstacles, and very light traffic made this field a perfect location for record breaking flights during the "Golden Age of Aviation".

Note: They filmed part of the Movie The Memphis Belle on this airport. The part
of the movie were they are having the last dance the night before the big
mission. Yes, the Belle was on the ground and the drunk scene was done
here.
