We were only at the airfield for about a half hour then we departed for Tucson International. As we were leaving the airport, it looked like somebody Nuked the moutain. There was a huge billowing mushroom cloud like the entire moutain lit on fire at the same time. It is a view I will never forget (Sorry no picture, I did not want to ask Mike to pull over and was very heated and trying to get the pictures off my camera as fast as possible so I would be ready for more. We arrived at Tucson Intl were I took my first good picture of a Pan Am plane and various other aircraft including a modified L10-11 called the flying hospital. We also saw the helicopter tankers refueling, they were fighting the fires in the mountains and were very busy.
I was ready for more pictures but never could have imagined what Mike had in mind next. He first stopped at at a bunch of aircraft graveyards. There were many cool planes in the distance. Large round motors that were littered like old coke cans. The kind of place that I could stay for a year and never get bored. He then took us to the Tucson Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (KDMA) for a private tour. We entered in and I think I sprained my neck from snapping my head left and right so many times.
